In a BJT longest current flows __________.
Answer: C
The largest current flows in the emitter.
In a bipolar junction transistor the emitter supplies all the carriers. Most of them cross the thin base into the collector and a small fraction recombine in the base, so the emitter current divides into the other two: IE = IB + IC.
The collector current is close to the emitter current but always a little smaller (about 0.95 to 0.99 of it), and the base current is the smallest of the three, typically one hundredth of the collector current. The emitter current is the sum, so it is the largest.
