Which of the following does not affect the maximum undistorted output swing?
The device's current gain
The quiescent collector voltage
The supply voltage available
The load the signal sees
Answer: B
The current gain does not enter into it: the swing is bounded by the supply, the quiescent point and the alternating load, all of which are circuit quantities. Beta affects how much drive is needed to reach that swing but not how far it can go. Separating what limits an output from what is needed to reach it is a distinction worth keeping, because the remedies are quite different.
