A is the son of C; C and Q are sisters; Z is the mother of Q and P is the son of Z. Which of the following statements is true?
Answer: B
Correct answer: P is the maternal uncle of A.
Z is the mother of Q, and C is Q’s sister, so Z is C’s mother too. P is Z’s son, and therefore the brother of both Q and C. Since A is C’s son, P is A’s maternal uncle. The other statements fail: P and A are uncle and nephew rather than cousins, Q is female and so cannot be a grandfather, and C and P are sister and brother.
