If A + B means A is the brother of B; A x B means A is the son of B; and A % B means B is the daughter of A then which of the following means M is the maternal uncle of N?
Answer: D
Correct answer: None of these
For M to be N’s maternal uncle, M must be the brother of N’s mother. Taking the options in turn: M + O × N makes O the son of N, so M becomes N’s son, not her uncle. M % O × N + P makes O both M’s daughter and N’s son, which is impossible. M + O % N makes M the brother of O and N the daughter of O - but nothing tells us O is female, so the relation could be paternal. No option establishes it, so the answer is none of these.
