In a family, there are 3 fathers, 3 mothers, 3 daughters, 3 sons, 2 nieces, 2 nephews, 1 son-in-law and 1 daughter-in-law. How many minimum members are there in the family?
Answer: C
The minimum is 10 members. Take a grandfather and grandmother, their son A and his wife, and their daughter C and her husband. Then A has a son and a daughter, and C has a son and a daughter. Fathers: the grandfather, A and C's husband, 3. Mothers: the grandmother, A's wife and C, 3. Sons: A and the two grandsons, 3. Daughters: C and the two granddaughters, 3. Nieces: each granddaughter is the niece of the other's parent, 2. Nephews: likewise 2. The son-in-law is C's husband and the daughter-in-law is A's wife. The count is 2 + 2 + 2 + 4 = 10, and each person fills several roles, so no smaller family fits. The larger numbers 11, 12 and 13 would need extra people.
