A's father has a son B who has an aunt C, whose husband is X, Y is the father-in-law of X. How could be Y related to A?
Answer: A
Y is A's grandfather.
A's father has a son B, so B is A's brother (or A himself). B's aunt C is a sister of one of B's parents, and so of A's parents too.
X is C's husband, so X's father-in-law Y is C's father. C's father is the father of A's parent, which makes Y A's grandfather, paternal or maternal depending on whose sister C is.
Y is two generations above A, so he cannot be A's son or grandson, which are generations below. 'Uncle' would be C's brother or X, not C's father.
