A man can row at 10 km/hr in still water. If the speed of the stream is 2 km/hr, how long will he take to cover 48 km downstream ?
Answer: B
Correct answer: 4 hours
Going with the stream the two speeds add:
\[\text{Downstream speed} = 10 + 2 = 12 \text{ km/hr}\]
\[\text{Time} = \frac{48}{12} = 4 \text{ hours}\]
The same journey upstream, at 8 km/hr, would take 6 hours.
