"The General Happiness is the end of the state" who said this?
Answer: B
The dictum that the object of government is "the greatest happiness of the greatest number" is associated with Jeremy Bentham.
Bentham founded utilitarianism, judging laws and institutions purely by the happiness they produce. His follower John Stuart Mill later refined the doctrine.
