Literal means
Answer: B
Correct answer: a string constant
In C a literal is a constant written directly in the source, and "string literal" means a string constant - a sequence of characters in double quotes, stored as an array of char with a terminating null appended by the compiler.
The term is worth distinguishing from a string in general, which may be held in a modifiable array. A string literal is not modifiable: attempting to write through a pointer to one is undefined behaviour, and identical literals may share storage.
