A year is a leap year if it is divisible by 4, except that a century year must also be divisible by 400.
- 1900 ÷ 400 is not whole ✗
- 1700 ÷ 400 is not whole ✗
- 2500 ÷ 400 is not whole ✗
- \( 1200 \div 400 = 3 \) ✓
So 1200 has 366 days. All four are divisible by 4, which is exactly why the century rule is needed to separate them.
