Which advantage follows from placing the field on the rotor?
Answer: D
Field current is a few amps while the output may be a hundred and fifty, so the brushes and slip rings carry very little. A dynamo passed its whole output through the brushes, which is why they wore so quickly. Tracing the requirement back to the physical constraint that produces it makes the answer follow. Reading the definition literally, rather than recalling a summary, avoids the usual confusion. A limit that survives making every external component ideal is an intrinsic one, and worth knowing for that reason.
