Gradual decrease in regular activities during elderly period is scientifically studied in :
Answer: D
It is studied in disengagement theory.
Disengagement theory, proposed by Cumming and Henry in 1961, holds that in old age people gradually withdraw from social roles and regular activities, and that society withdraws from them in turn. It treats this mutual withdrawal as natural and inevitable.
Activity theory takes the opposite view: older people stay happier when they remain active and keep their roles. 'Engagement' is the idea activity theory promotes, not the study of decline. Wear and tear theory is a biological theory that the body ages because its cells and tissues wear out with use.
