Choose the grammatically correct sentence.
Answer: D
The correct sentence is The board of trustees comprised older people.
'Comprise' means 'consist of' and takes a direct object: the whole comprises its parts. So 'The board comprised older people' is right.
'Comprised of' is a common error (the correct passive alternatives are 'consisted of' or 'was composed of'); 'consisted older people' omits the needed 'of'; and 'Older people comprised the board' reverses whole and parts, using 'comprise' to mean 'compose'.
