Assertion (A): DNS based failover is slower to take effect than load balancer health checks.
Reason (R): Resolvers and clients cache records for the duration of the time to live.
Answer: A
Correct answer: Both A and R are true, and R is the correct explanation of A
Both are true and the reason gives the mechanism. A DNS change only takes effect once the cached record expires, and resolvers and client libraries hold it for the time to live - some ignoring low values and holding longer. A load balancer removes an unhealthy target from rotation within seconds and needs no client to re-resolve anything, which is why DNS failover is used across regions and load balancers within them.
