Consider the following statements about the metamerism index.
1. The pair is first corrected to match under the reference.
2. The residual difference under a test illuminant is the index.
3. It is calculated without any reference illuminant at all.
Answer: A
The first two are correct and describe the calculation. The third is impossible, since the index is defined relative to a reference condition. Two illuminants are required by definition. Reference and test are both necessary.
