The Mach angle for a flow at Mach 2.0 is
Answer: A
The Mach angle is 30°.
The Mach angle is the half-angle of the Mach cone, defined by
\[ \begin{aligned} \mu &= \sin^{-1}\frac{1}{M} \\ &= \sin^{-1}\frac{1}{2} = 30^{\circ} \end{aligned} \]
45° corresponds to \(M = \sqrt{2} \approx 1.41\), and 90° to \(M = 1\), where the Mach wave stands normal to the flow. 60° would need \(M = 1/\sin 60^{\circ} \approx 1.15\). As Mach number rises the Mach angle shrinks, so Mach 2 gives the smallest of these.
