Assertion (A): Dye lot strength must be checked on receipt.
Reason (R): A stronger or weaker lot shifts every recipe using that dye.
Answer: B
Correct answer: Both A and R are true, and R is the correct explanation of A
Both are true and the reason gives the mechanism. A dye lot ten per cent stronger than the calibration will make every recipe containing it come out too deep, and the error is systematic rather than random. Checking strength on receipt against a reference and applying a correction factor is the standard defence.
