Consider the following statements about scaling up a recipe.
1. Laboratory and bulk conditions differ in several respects.
2. A correction factor is applied when scaling up.
3. A laboratory recipe transfers to bulk without adjustment.
Answer: D
The first two are correct and reflect ordinary practice. The third is contradicted by experience in essentially every dyehouse there is. Scaling up always requires some adjustment. Conditions differ between the two scales.
