Which of the following is NOT an internal hardware component of a desktop computer?

The operating system is software, not an internal hardware component. The CPU (the processor), the heat sink (which carries heat from the processor to the air) and the network interface card (the board that connects the computer to a network) are all physical parts that sit inside the cabinet of a desktop computer. The operating system, such as Windows or Linux, is a program stored on the drive and loaded into memory.
