The ex officio members are all of the above.
Section 3(3) of the Protection of Human Rights Act, 1993 provides that the Chairpersons of the National Commission for Minorities, the National Commission for the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes (later split into two commissions) and the National Commission for Women shall be deemed to be members of the NHRC for the discharge of certain functions. The list has since been widened by amendment.
