Which provision of the Copyright Act, 1957, provides that- "Copyright means the exclusive right to do or authorize to do certain acts in relation to literary, dramatic, musical and artistic works; cinematograph film; sound recording."
Answer: A
The provisions are Section 14 and 2(y).
Section 14 of the Copyright Act, 1957 defines copyright as the exclusive right to do or authorise the doing of specified acts in respect of a work. Section 2(y) defines 'work' as a literary, dramatic, musical or artistic work, a cinematograph film or a sound recording, which is the list in the quotation.
Section 15 deals with designs registered under the Designs Act, and section 16 says no copyright exists except as provided by the Act; section 36 and '3(g)' do not define copyright.
