During the reign of King James, in which continent were the first British colonies founded ?
Answer: D
The first British colonies were founded in North America.
Under James I, the Virginia Company founded Jamestown in 1607, the first permanent English settlement in America, and the Pilgrims settled Plymouth in New England in 1620. Bermuda (1612) was also settled in his reign.
British colonies in Africa and Australia came much later, and in Asia the East India Company, chartered in 1600, set up trading posts, not colonies, at this time.
