Considering all three years, what was the total number of students placed in Marketing/Sales ?

The total placed in Marketing/Sales was 424.
Marketing/Sales took 11% of 800 in 2015, 18% of 1000 in 2016 and 13% of 1200 in 2017:
\[ \begin{aligned} 0.11 \times 800 &= 88 \\ 0.18 \times 1000 &= 180 \\ 0.13 \times 1200 &= 156 \\ 88 + 180 + 156 &= 424 \end{aligned} \]
524 is exactly 100 too many, and 400 and 350 are too few; none of them equals the sum of the three years' placements.
