How many sons does D have ?
Statements:
1. A's father has three children.
2. B is A's brother and son of D.
Answer: C
Correct answer: Neither 1 nor 2 is sufficient
Statement 2 establishes that A and B are both D’s children and that B is a son, and statement 1 adds that there are three children in all. But the sexes of A and the third child are never given, so the number of sons may be one, two or three and cannot be determined.
