The Chairman of a big company visits one department on Monday of every week except for the Monday of third week of every month. When did he visa/the Purchase department ?
Statements:
1. He visited Accounts department in the second week of September after having visited Purchase department on the earlier occasion.
2. He had visited Purchase department immediately after visiting Stores department but before visiting Accounts department.
Answer: A
Correct answer: 1 alone is sufficient while 2 alone is not sufficient
The chairman visits on every Monday except the third of each month. Statement 1 places the Accounts visit in the second week of September and says Purchase was the visit immediately before, which must therefore have been the Monday of the first week of September. Statement 2 gives only the order of three departments with no dates at all.
