World Bamboo Day is observed on 18th September.
The day was declared by the World Bamboo Organization at the 8th World Bamboo Congress held in Bangkok in 2009. It is observed on 18 September each year to raise awareness of bamboo as a sustainable resource for housing, crafts, food and soil conservation, and to promote its cultivation.
October 18th, November 18th and December 18th repeat the day of the month with the wrong months. In India the day is relevant to the north-east, where Tripura is among the major bamboo-growing states.
