The strain velocity becomes zero in ........................... and is constant under ......................... .
Answer: A
The key's answer is Elastic flow, Plastic flow: the strain rate is zero in elastic deformation and constant in plastic flow.
An elastic body under a constant stress deforms at once to a fixed strain set by Hooke's law and then stops deforming, so its rate of strain (strain velocity) falls to zero; the strain is recovered when the load is removed. Once the stress exceeds the yield strength, a plastic material keeps flowing, and under a constant stress it deforms at a steady rate, with the strain permanent.
Reversing the pair contradicts these two behaviours. Rheology is the general study of flow and deformation, not a type of flow, and creep is slow time-dependent deformation rather than the behaviour that defines zero strain rate.
