Banking ombudsman may reject the complaint
Answer: C
Correct answer: at any stage
The Banking Ombudsman may reject a complaint at any stage of the proceedings. Grounds include the complaint being outside the scheme's scope, the complainant not having first approached the bank, the matter being time-barred, being already before a court or other forum, or requiring elaborate evidence better suited to a court.
Some of these are apparent on receipt and others only emerge after the parties have been heard, which is precisely why the power is not confined to any one stage of the process.
