One morning Udai and Vishal were talking to each other face to face at a crossing. If Vishal's shadow was exactly to the left of Udai, which direction was Udai facing?

Correct answer: North
In the morning the sun is in the east, so every shadow points west. Vishal’s shadow therefore ran westward, and it lay to Udai’s left - so west was on Udai’s left hand, which puts him facing north.
