Discussion
While teaching EVS, a teacher's statement/question, which encourages students to elaborate on an answer either on their own or from the response of their peers, is :
Answer: A
It is probing.
Probing questions follow up a student's first response and push for more: 'Why do you think so?', 'Can you give an example?', 'What would happen if...?', or 'Can anyone add to what she said?'. They encourage students to elaborate, clarify and justify their answers, on their own or by building on peers' responses.
Conditioning and chaining are behaviourist learning processes, and trial and error is a way of learning by repeated attempts. None is a questioning technique.
