Which of the following is the major part of time taken when accessing data on the disk ?
Answer: C
The major part of disk access time is the seek time.
Seek time is the time to move the read/write head to the right track, typically several milliseconds, usually the largest component. Rotational latency, waiting for the sector to come under the head, is on average half a revolution, a few milliseconds on common drives.
Settle time is a small part of the seek, and waiting time in a queue is not part of the physical access itself.
