Which coupling produces particularly vigorous development?

When the divergent quadrants of two jet streaks are superposed, the upper divergence adds and the forced ascent becomes much stronger, which is a classic signature of explosive cyclogenesis. Forecasters look specifically for this coupled jet configuration. A jet over orography and a jet above an existing low are both favourable but neither produces the same additive effect on the divergence field. A limit that survives making every external component ideal is an intrinsic one, and worth knowing for that reason.
