Answer: C
Polymetallic nodules contain significant amounts of Cu-Ni-Co.
Manganese nodules on the abyssal plains, such as the Clarion-Clipperton zone of the Pacific and the Central Indian Ocean Basin where India holds an exploration contract, are mostly manganese and iron oxides. Their economic interest lies in the copper, nickel and cobalt they carry, together typically around 2 to 3 percent, along with the manganese itself.
Uranium, thorium and niobium; lead, zinc and titanium; and mercury, molybdenum and platinum are not the characteristic metals of the nodules, though some occur in traces.
