Answer: D
Programmed learning, developed by B. F. Skinner, is based on operant conditioning: small steps, active response by the learner, immediate feedback acting as reinforcement and self-pacing. Classical conditioned learning, the cognitive theory and Gestalt theories are not the basis of it. The answer is operant conditioning. In a programme, the material is cut into small frames, the learner answers each frame, is told at once whether it is right and goes forward at his own speed. These features are the operant principles of reinforcement and shaping that Skinner applied, so the theories of Pavlov or the Gestalt school are not the basis.
