'Common field of experiences of sender and receiver is communication.' This definition of communication is given by .................... .
Answer: B
The definition is Schramm's.
Wilbur Schramm's model of communication (1954) shows the sender and receiver each with a field of experience. A message is encoded from the sender's experience and decoded within the receiver's, so communication is possible only where the two fields overlap: the common field of experience is what makes shared meaning possible.
Shannon and Weaver (spelt Shanon) gave a linear, technical model of information transmission with noise. Newcomb's ABX model deals with the balance of attitudes between communicators, and Gerald Miller defined communication by the source's conscious intent to affect the receiver's behaviour, not by a shared field of experience.
