What are reasons for creating OSPF in a hierarchical design?
1.To decrease routing overhead
2.To speed up convergence
3.To confine network instability to single areas of the network
4.To make configuring OSPF easier
Answer: A
Correct answer: 1, 2 and 3
The three genuine reasons all follow from confining link-state flooding to an area. Less flooding means less routing overhead; fewer routers running the shortest path calculation over a smaller database means faster convergence; and a link flapping in one area is not propagated into the others. Statement 4 is the opposite of the truth - areas, area border routers and summarisation make OSPF harder to configure, which is the price paid for the other three.
