You get a call from a network administrator who tells you that he typed the following into his router:
Router(config)#router ospf 1
Router(config-router)#network 10.0.0.0 255.0.0.0 area 0
He tells you he still can't see any routes in the routing table. What configuration error did the administrator make?
Answer: A
Correct answer: The wildcard mask is incorrect.
The OSPF network statement takes a *wildcard* mask, not a subnet mask, so 10.0.0.0 with a /8 must be written network 10.0.0.0 0.255.255.255 area 0. As typed, the mask matches nothing and no interface is enabled for OSPF, which is exactly why no routes appear. The process ID is locally significant and any value serves, and area 0 is correct for a single-area design.
