An acetic acid solution of equivalent conductance 39.1 with a limiting value of 391 is dissociated to the extent of
Answer: C
Correct answer: 10 per cent
The degree of dissociation is the ratio of the two conductances:
\[ \alpha = \frac{\Lambda_c}{\Lambda^\circ} = \frac{39.1}{391} = 0.10 = 10\% \]so nine tenths of the acetic acid is present as undissociated molecules - which is what makes it a weak acid, and what the conductance measurement establishes quantitatively.
