Statement I: A canard foreplane is stabilising in pitch.
Statement II: A lifting surface ahead of the centre of gravity contributes a nose-up moment with increasing angle of attack.
In the light of the above statements, choose the correct answer.
Answer: C
The second is correct and it is exactly what makes the first false: a destabilising contribution is what a surface ahead of the centre of gravity provides. Canard stability comes from placing the centre of gravity well forward instead.
