Electricity duty appearing on a bill is
Answer: A
Correct answer: a state tax on consumption
Electricity duty is a tax levied by the state on the consumption of electricity, collected by the licensee on the bill and passed to the government. It is not part of the utility’s revenue at all, which is why it is shown separately - a change in duty alters what the consumer pays without altering what the utility receives.
