In which of the following books is Mahatma Gandhi present as a character?
I. So Many Hungers
II. Waiting for the Mahatma
III. Roots and Shadows
IV. Where There is a Will
Answer: D
Only Waiting for the Mahatma (II) has Mahatma Gandhi as a character. R. K. Narayan's novel of 1955 shows Sriram, who falls in love with Bharati, a follower of Gandhi, and the Mahatma himself appears in it. So Many Hungers by Bhabani Bhattacharya deals with the Bengal famine, Roots and Shadows by Shashi Deshpande is a family novel, and Where There is a Will is a different work, so they do not have Gandhi as a character.
