Which of the following Indian English playwrights won the Sultan Padamsee Prize in 1968 for a play based with a focus on an unusual Englishman in India named Henry Lawrence?
Answer: A
Gurucharan Das won the Sultan Padamsee Prize in 1968 for his play Larins Sahib, which is about Sir Henry Lawrence in Punjab in the 1840s. Gieve Patel, Dina Mehta and Cyrus Mistry are playwrights too but are not the winners of this prize for this play. The play Larins Sahib was published in 1969 and is set in Lahore and the court of the young Dalip Singh. Gieve Patel wrote Princes, Dina Mehta wrote Getting Away with Murder, and Cyrus Mistry wrote Doodlebug, so those authors are known for other works.
