The equation for change of entropy per kg viz. \(R\log_{e}\dfrac{v_2}{v_1}\) is for the ______.
Answer: B
The expression \(R\log_e\frac{v_2}{v_1}\) is the change of entropy per kg for an isothermal process. For an ideal gas, \[ ds = c_v\frac{dT}{T} + R\frac{dv}{v} \] and at constant temperature the first term vanishes, which gives \[ s_2 - s_1 = R\log_e\frac{v_2}{v_1} \] In an adiabatic process the change of entropy is zero for the reversible case, and in a constant volume process only the temperature term is left, so the other options are wrong.
