With the advent of Remote Sensing and Geographical Information System, the city planners have begun to use the Indian satellite data. Which one of the following satellite data are useful for such tasks ?
Answer: A
The data used for city planning come from CARTOSAT.
ISRO's Cartosat series carries high-resolution panchromatic cameras, with resolution below one metre in the later satellites, and stereo imaging. It is designed for cartography: large-scale mapping, urban and infrastructure planning, cadastral maps and digital elevation models.
LANDSAT is an American (NASA/USGS) programme, so it is not Indian satellite data. OCEANSAT observes ocean colour and winds, and RESOURCESAT is aimed at agriculture, forestry and natural resources at coarser resolution.
