Answer: D
The Air (Prevention and Control of Pollution) Act came into force in 1981.
The Air Act was passed by Parliament in 1981, following the decisions of the 1972 Stockholm Conference on the Human Environment. It gave the Central and State Pollution Control Boards powers to prevent, control and abate air pollution, including declaring air pollution control areas.
1972 is the year of the Stockholm Conference and of the Wildlife (Protection) Act, 1974 that of the Water Act, and 1986 that of the Environment (Protection) Act. 1978 and 1984 are not the years of any of these Acts.
