Salar Jung was the celebrated collector of artefacts and curios.
Mir Yousuf Ali Khan, Salar Jung III, Prime Minister of Hyderabad, spent a large part of his fortune assembling paintings, sculpture, textiles, arms and clocks from across the world. His collection is now the Salar Jung Museum in Hyderabad, one of the three National Museums of India.
