R.K. Laxman excelled as a cartoonist.
His pocket cartoon 'You Said It' ran in The Times of India for about fifty years, and its silent Common Man in a checked coat became the emblem of the ordinary Indian citizen. He was awarded the Padma Vibhushan in 2005.
