V.R. Krishna Iyer was an eminent jurist.
A judge of the Supreme Court from 1973 to 1980, he did much to open up public interest litigation, relaxing the rule on who may approach the court, and wrote judgments in a highly individual prose. He died in December 2014, aged 100.
