Coal oil is also known as :
Answer: D
Coal oil is another name for kerosene.
Kerosene was first made in the nineteenth century by distilling coal and oil shale, which is why it was called coal oil; the name stayed in use after it came to be distilled from petroleum. It is the fraction boiling at roughly 150 to 275°C, used as lamp and stove fuel and as jet fuel. In fire investigation it is a common accelerant identified by its pattern of hydrocarbons in gas chromatography.
Petrol (gasoline) is a lighter fraction, and diesel and gas oil are heavier fractions. None of them is called coal oil.
