GSR collection from live subjects should be done within :
Answer: C
Gunshot residue should be collected from a living subject within 6 hours of the shooting.
Residue particles of lead, barium and antimony sit loosely on the skin of the hands. Ordinary activity, rubbing, wiping and hand washing remove them steadily, so the chance of finding any falls sharply with time, and after about six hours a negative result means very little. Swabbing or stubbing the hands is therefore done as early as possible, and the hands may be bagged until then.
Two hours is an ideal target rather than the accepted limit. Twelve and 24 hours are far beyond the period in which residue normally survives on a living, active person.
